After observing Attorney Winfrey’s exceptional trial skills during a week-long drug trafficking trial, the presiding Judge stated:
“I’ve seen the magic you do, Mr. Winfrey. I sat through a trial last week with you … on a lock-down dead case if I’ve ever seen one in my life with every codefendant in the case testifying against your client, with there being overwhelming evidence against your client [in a prescription pill drug ring case], and you had told me the preceding week that you hadn’t been able to work on that case because of the obstinacy of your client … and that’s with some scant, what, five days before we selected a jury on Monday. Out of nine charges we walked out of that courtroom with [your client] being convicted of [only one minor charge and the other] eight [charges] going away with not guilty verdicts or a directed verdict …. That’s masterful, Mr. Winfrey. That’s amazing to this Court.”
